A Day with Melanie, and the rest of the base…

This morning Melanie and I got up at 8am and went to help with the Grand Forks AFB Easter egg hunt and Easter party. Hundreds and hundreds of kids and parents funneled through the party until about noon when we shut down and cleaned up. Not just us of course, we were merely helping out the 50 or so other volunteers who made this annual easter party a huge success.

After, we went to Grand Forks to goof off and go shopping. We visited a motorcycle shop, McDonalds (duh!), 4 furniture stores, 2 tire stores, a boat shop, 2 trailer shops, and 3 gas stations. We had a couple of agendas, but the biggee was to look for Melanie a new bed. She wants a raised platform bed that has drawers under it. We looked and looked and either they were all too cheap (particle board), babyish (stars and hearts), or too expensive. For $200 we can buy cheap, but there is a big jump to $600 for wood. Of course a new mattesss is a nother $200 or so. So, as you might have guessed, we came home empty handed. However, I did find the boat I want, the trailer I want, the new motorcycle jacket I want, and I had a McChicken sandwich. Oh yeah, I also spent the day with Melanie.

To me? It was a complete success! :~)
