Driving to Las Vegas

Well, I’m leaving next week for Las Vegas. I’m driving my truck, and towing my camper. This is the route I’m taking:

The markers (A, B…) are where I’m stopping each night. Here’s a summary of my plan:
Day 1, 21 Jan, Mon: Home to Watertown SD, about 233 miles
Day 2, 22 Jan, Tue: SD to Concordia KS, about 403 miles
Day 3, 23 Jan, Wed: KS to Dalhart TX, about 404 miles
Day 4, 24 Jan, Thur: TX to Albuquerque NM, about 280 miles
Day 5, 25 Jan, Fri: NM to Kingman AZ, about 460 miles
Day 6, 26 Jan, Sat: AZ to Las Vegas NV, about 100 miles or so.

Plans are changable of course. First, the weather is cold, cold, cold! It should be 25 degrees below zero when I drive out and my first night down in SD it will be about -10. So I might keep driving to where its warmer, stop driving early and find a warm motel, or stay in the camper for the night, as planned.

But it gets better, I’ll see a high Mon of near 0, 20 degrees on Tuesday, and the 40’s on Wednesday. I’m driving alone so the days are easily do-able. I’m on an Interstate all the first day but in SD I pick up Hwy 81 and stay with that into KS. In KS I start West (and still South) on Hwy 56 and 54 down to I-40.
