  1. I think I’ve lived in ND too long. I’ve never seen anywhere where every house has rocks, dirt, etc. for a yard. It seems like it would get a little too boring for me. But then again, I do live in Grand Forks where “flat” is an understatement, so I guess I can’t really say much about Vegas landscape being boring.

  2. 🙂 I know what you’re saying! I’m not “from” ND, but I’m from the north. And one thing I know, when winter is over we want COLOR!

    It’s different here. It’s a desert environment.

Someone was telling me the other day (as yet it’s an unconfirmed rumor) that the city of Las Vegas will pay you to take out your grass and go to “desert landscaping” in your yard.

There is such a water shortage here and in the south in general, that it’s cheaper to pay people to pull their grass, than to let them water it.

  3. Waterless landscape (or low water) is cool. . . you just need a few large terra cotta pots and some succulents. . . like aloe vera and you have color! Some of the plants take little water but have striking blooms also! Think of the gas you save not mowing. . .
