News from Grand Forks`

  Hey hey hey!

As usual, a ton going on here in ND and w/ our family.

  1) The moving company left a few hours ago with everything we own. They estimate we have 15,000 pounds of crap… (errrr…. household goods…)

  2) Heather and I visited her college on Thursday and I like it. I know it’s not Heather’s first choice but I like it. I liked the people, I liked the courses, I liked the location, I liked the dorm room,…. I liked it.

Classes start the end of August, I think heather heads back here (there, whatever) to school mid August.

  3) We sign out of the base Monday morning at 0900. Our goal is to be on the road by 0905. Thanks to dad we just might!

  4) Heather recieved notice of another scholarship, $800 from some ND fund. Very cool! She has worked very hard and has received a large music scholarship from Valley City State University which pays for almost half of her tuition.

  5) Heather graduated from High School a few days ago. Dad (grandpa) was here and it was very nice ceremony.

  6) I close on my (our) house in Las Vegas 5 Jun. Everything looks good so far… my fingers are crossed it goes without a hitch. I’ll let everyone know if it does.

  7) Well, I hope I’m not premature giving this out:

Scott and/or Tira Alvar

5914 Willis St.

North Las Vegas NV 89031

Until and after we arrive, my cell is area code 702, and then it’s 366 with 6915 my ending 4.

  8) I sold my motorcycle a few days ago, Honda CB750C, I’ve had it like 11 or 12 years.

  9) We’re leaving my car with Heather at school so she’ll have transportation. She lives in the school dormatory (all women dorm). There is a phone in her room so her address and telephone will be coming soon.

  10) Nicholas put on Life Scout (mentioned in a previous post) but they waited to hold the ceremony until I returned. His troop is run by some wonderful people. They care about the scouts and what and how they are doing. They know and like the scouts as individuals, not just ‘one of the boys’. So my big thank you to Bo and Becky for leading and mentoring my son for nearly 4 years, and for guiding him along the scouting trail.

  11) It’s my birthday, it’s my birthday! But we celebrate tomorrow. I don’t like the 30th, at least not right now and not yet.

ok, gotta run. i’m accessing the internet from a local bar w/ wifi and well, it’s 10pm and the families are going home and the drunks are coming in. I’ll come back tomorrow to check weather across the country and try to plan our drive down to Las Vegas. Right now I’m leaning towards traveling west and south first and passing through mount rushmore first, then heading south into Dallas  Denver and south from there through Utah and into Las Vegas. I’ll decide for sure tomorrow.

  1. south and west to mount rushmore…sounds good. south to dallas…still with you there. south from dallas to Utah?!? what’s up with that? isn’t dallas already south of Utah, or has dallas moved north? i think there’s a denver north of Utah, but is there a dallas I don’t know about?

  2. Thanks Brandon, I noticed that too. He came home saying Dallas too but I just ignored him but now I have to go and fix it for him.
