Black Canyon Colorado River Kayak Trip

Nicholas and I went on another kayaking adventure today.  Our morning started at 0630 when we met a group from the Air Force base and ended at 5:30pm when we got back to Nellis AFB.  We went on a MWR sponsored 14 mile kayak trip down the Colorado River.  I did this last here, here is a link to the trip last year:  Kayak Trip 2009

No pictures this year, but we did take memories!  The trip was wonderful.  The weather was great (if a little warm) and the winds were very light.  One of the best trips ever.  I know we sure enjoyed it.

  1. Scott,
With the type of kayaking you do, hiking you do and other outside sweaty activities you do, you should invest in waterproof camera or a cheap digital that wouldn’t be a huge financial loss if it fell in the water or was dropped off a cliff.

I suggest a Nikon Cool Pix – we lost ours last winter about Christmas and found it in March. It was on the ground under one of the fruit trees at Joe’s house.

It still works, even though it shouldn’t. The recharable batteries need to be recharged more often. . . but the Christmas pictures were still there!

  2. Good thinking. I’d like to get a new/better/bigger/faster/higher quality digital SLR camera to replace my aging Canon Rebel. Maybe I’ll get a good new camera and this aged camera could be my just-in-case spare camera for dangerous situations.
