Because I am a dinosaur too…

This is not Scott writing this; this is Melanie, but Melanie doesn’t know her user name or password, and Dad has his saved on my computer…though I’m not sure why…

Because Dad hasn’t updated in a while (most likely because of facebook) I think I’ll do the honors of updating everyone.

Heather is safe back in Minnesota and happy being a TA. (teacher assistant?) Apparently something is happening in five days, but she won’t tell anyone what it is. We’re all dying from anticipation. *heavy sarcasm* What we do know is that she has recently been hired as a Target team member. (Yay Heather!!) Seeing as she attended a job fair with low expectations, and was hired on the spot, I can say she was pretty excited.

From what I know, Nicholas is still doing what Nicholas does. Since I have moved out of the house, he is the only kid around, making him an only child. I’m sure he’s happy to have the house to himself, as well as the chores. When I talk to him, he complains about unloading the dishwasher, and I laugh as I remember myself three years ago saying the same words. Sometime soon, He will be finishing his Eagle Project paperwork, and we will all be together for a day to attend his ceremony and congratulate him on the great achievement.

Mom is back at school, in every sense. She is now teaching fourth grade, and has many of the same kids from last year. She continues to use her family as basis for teaching, and loves to share stories both ways. She is also back in her own classes, getting a TSL (?) endorsement and aiming for her masters degree. With these two things, she will be able to get a fancy pay raise and work where she wants.

Dad is working for the Air Force…still… For years he has been “about to retire”, but never actually does. The latest word is just another year, but a lot can happen in that time. We’ll just have to wait and see. Recently, he has sold every car he owns, except his truck and Mom’s Murano. He and Nicholas fixed the Geo and sold it for more than we payed for it. He says the motorcycles are next, both the dirt bikes and his Suzuki, and the House goes after that. (I’m pretty sure he was joking when he said he was selling the house.)

As for me, I’m living on campus at UNLV, and I’m loving it. The downside is the people that live on my floor that are always partying. They have a nasty habit of getting drunk and banging on every door at three in the morning. Otherwise, the food is disgusting, and the library is loud. What else can you expect from a college in Las Vegas? I also have gotten a job, though not a very good one. I sell hairpins and fake hair at a kiosk in the mall. It’s bad pay, but the people are interesting. Today we had a person swear he’s a demigod that moves Atlantis every three days. Gotta love Vegas.

All-in-all, we’re all doing well. Our lives are changing, and we adjust as it comes. We hope to hear from you all soon, especially with the holidays coming up. (in retrospect, you will probably all see this again in the holiday newsletter thing….oh well)

  2. Good job, Mel. Some of us don’t use facebook as our only way to keep track of the family. Some of us just don’t use facebook!

Thanks for filling in for Dad.

  3. Great job Melanie

I am not quite sure who this “face book” is but if it is what is keeping your Pops from posting on here someone should have a talk with him/her.

Thanks for stepping up and keeping the rest of us informed.

Ask Nicholas how he liked his love letter from Kaylyn, I think she might have a crush on him.

    Enjoy.

    Ken
