Went hiking the last weekend before christmas, up to red rock canyon. we walked on the SMYC trail, about 1.1 miles each way. A little more for us, we walked the trail until the turn around point, then took the road back to where we started. Cool (40’s) and not windy. Cloudy and some sun. Went backpacking with Nicholas and his Boy Scout troop. A few miles into CA, south of Searchlight NV, we turned onto an old singletrack and went 7 miles into the desert.
