Hike w/Mel and Nic

Went hiking the last weekend before christmas, up to red rock canyon.  we walked on the SMYC trail, about 1.1 miles each way.  A little more for us, we walked the trail until the turn around point, then took the road back to where we started.

Cool (40’s) and not windy.  Cloudy and some sun.  Very nice day for a walk.

  1. You know, in all those pictures of Melanie walking on ice, I’m kind of surprised there aren’t any pictures of Melanie with a broken arm…again

  2. What great pictures! I wish I could right-click copy them. . . but it doesn’t appear to be allowed, thanks bro.

So, it seems that Red Rock Canyon is not a place where one goes to see the canyon, but a location with many, many hikes and destinations. Am I correct, more like Mt. Rainier? Less like Penrose park with one three mile hike around the perimeter.

What a grand adventure life is! Looking forward to seeing the place in person.

  3. Yes Donna, there are a number of hikes in red rock “canyon”. Mostly they are hikes up canyons, draws or washes… in which the rocks are colored red.

but it’s not as big as Rainier. I mean it would take you hours and hours to just drive around Rainier. Red Rock Canyon is a 17 mile scenic loop with pullouts and trail heads scattered along it’s length.

    Merry Christmas!

  4. right-click-copy? you mean right-click-steal my pictures?? 🙂
my photo program has that as an option but I didn’t know it was turned on. I don’t like that either, i’ll make sure it’s turned off next time.
