ND to NV day 1

I flew into ND this morning and met Heather and Brandon and Brandon’s Grandmother, and Heather and I headed back to NV in her car.  Day 1 we stopped for the night at a small hotel in Buffalo SD, and since they have internet, I thought I’d post a couple of pictures.

Today we drove down the enchanted highway, a stretch of road in SW North Dakota.  The link to the left tells more about the sculptures along the road.  The sculptures (like Teddy Rides Again, below) are very cool and are some of the largest metal sculptures in the world.

While driving down some country highways today we saw pheasants (perhaps 3-400 of them?) a raccoon, hawks, a white and black water bird, a yellow breasted bird, ravens, little black birds, and turkeys, and a myriad of other small birds.  We even saw antelope on 2 ocassions, but no deer.  Isn’t that odd?

Pictures open in new window, full size.

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed the Enchanted Highway. I was hoping to get down it at some point with Heather, but since you already did, that’s one ND attraction that I don’t have to get to with her.

  2. I don’t think so. We drove down it on a journey, imagine how nice it will be to someday explore your own backyard…the visit would be the journey, not a passing interest! 🙂
