Cape Blanco State Park

We had a great drive from Grants Pass down into CA and up the 101 into OR. It’s wet, it’s been raining all day but not too heavily. The campground here is so quiet it’s almost scary. It feels like a small campground but there are 64 spots. Absolutely loved it here, I suspect I’ll be back to this one.

The campground is high up in the forest over the ocean, about 250′ up. You can’t really see the ocean because the sites are in a forest, but you can hear it. There is a road down to the beach if you want to drive and a few trails if you want to walk.

Of course the highlight of the area is the Cape Blanco Light House. Coincidentally, while we were here, the OR Parks Department was holding the 150 year anniversary celebration of the light house. We went by and got free food, and a tour of one of the oldest light houses in the state. Unfortunately, it rained all day so not too many people came out. It didn’t rain the whole time here, as you can see from the pictures.

We spent some time sight seeing, and of course we grabbed a couple of geocaches and had fish and chips. Oh, and clam chowder. 🙂
